THURSDAY PREVIEW THINKSMALL 4

Want first choice of over 300 3x3 pieces of art? Want to ride a luxurious coach bus back and forth between art 6 and Artspace?? Want to hear the musical styling of 8th blackbird?

Then you need a ticket to the gala preview of the THINKSMALL 4 show that opens on First Friday.

$25 gets you: a first view of more than 300 tiny art works, gourmet platters from some of Richmond's finest food purveyors, a free drink at each gallery, a comfortable ride back and forth across the river, fine music, and a chance to be a part of the semi-annual big fundraiser for our galleries!

Now, First Friday is a wonderful Richmond tradition, and you are welcome to come back for that special excitement BUT...

Why struggle to get close to that drawing you really want to buy for yourself that 3000 other people are staring at and won't move? Why come on Friday only to find your favorite artist has already sold to someone else??

Call the gallery, reserve your ticket, pay by credit card over the phone if you wish- but make sure you have a ticket by 7pm Thursday night ('cause the price goes to $30 at the door)!

THINK SMALL 4 is around the corner!

THINK SMALL 4 is coming...it's right around the corner. We've gotten in almost a hundred pieces with many more to come, all amazing in so many different ways. This is a must-see show!

Now you can come First Friday- sure, with the other 4,000 folks out there on the street OR

You can come to the ticketed pre-opening reception and help us with our fundraising efforts to support the gallery during the next year.

Sure, tickets are $25 ($30 at the door) but wait, don't write that check yet- for a measly twenty-five smackers you get 1) top-notch entertainment for eighth blackbird throughout the evening, gourmet platters of fabulous finger food from some of Richmond's finest restaurants, one free drink at both art6 and Artspace, a shuttle bus running constantly between the two galleries (park once, see both galleries), the chance to rub shoulders with Richmond's most discerning art crowd, AND FIRST LOOK AT THE HUNDREDS OF 3x3 pieces that will be exhibited for the show.

This is the night all the really cool stuff sells, you know- instead waiting for First Friday so you can be jostled past your favorite piece by some three-piece ugly suit with his checkbook already out and his big head blocking your view of that piece that would complete your (insert local artist's name here) collection, come Thursday for the real view.

And support art 6 and Artspace by buying a $25 ticket and a piece of art!!

If you like mime,

this is where you need to be tonight!

At art6 Saturday, Oct 13, Balancing Act Lelia Pendleton 8pm $7

This charming pantomime performance is a "take" on modern life. The artist says,
"I perform 9 pieces and 13 characters to assist me in sharing the things that
either upset or reclaim my balance in this work-a-day world. Some of the
characters are a dog, a little girl and her dream horse, a modern couple, and a
goddess." Join us at art6 and find your own balance restored!

Honor the late Marcel Marceau and let Leila get out of that invisible box so you don't have to.

What is art?

... art is not just about making things or slapping pigment on canvas; it's also a way of thinking and seeing. Mia Fineman, curator, from her article in SLATE.

The art exhibited at art6 this month is clear evidence of her statement. Every canvass, each three-dimensional installation is a joy to study, to absorb.

These six artists: Jorge Benitez, Federico Chiriboga, Javier Tapia, Diego Sanchez, Nora Pozzi and Max Soler, have captured the essence of their Hispanic roots and bring you into their world of wonder.

This exhibit runs only from October 5- October 21. We are open Thursday-Sunday from 12-4, or by appointment. This is art you will want to take home.
